Elections C'tee: Propaganda Law also applies to Internet

The Central Elections Commission chairman on Friday said that it is illegal to post anonymous political advertisement on the Internet, Israel Radio reported.The new decision ruled the prohibition of anonymous ads in newspapers and bulletin boards also applies to the Internet, and is defined as an ad which does not cite its sponsorship.Israel Radio quoted Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Judge Eliakim Rubinstein as saying there is no reason why the electoral law on propaganda methods "does not apply to online advertisements."Rubinstein declared the decision after Bayit Yehudi petitioned the Central Elections Committee to issue a restraining order against Facebook and Likud Beytenu after anonymous ads tied party leader Naftali Bennett to controversial rabbis appeared on the social network.Lahav Harkov contributed to this report.Anti-Israel activists vandalize Texas congressman's office door
