Erdogan calls Assad, expresses support for Syria reforms

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan called Syrian President Bashar Assad to express his support for Assad's decision to institute reforms, the Syrian news agency reported Saturday.
Human rights group Amnesty International said on Friday at least 55 people are believed to have been killed since protests erupted in and around the southern Syrian city of Deraa a week ago.
