Foreign Ministry summons consul-general in Boston for 'clarification'

The Foreign Ministry summoned for consultation a senior Israeli diplomat who in a confidential memo criticized the government for harming ties with the US, according to a statement released Saturday. Israel's consul-general in Boston Nadav Tamir, will arrive in Jerusalem next week to give a "clarification" to the ministry's director-general, according to the statement. The summons was ordered by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman. Consul-general Nadav Tamir wrote an internal memo that was leaked to Channel 10 TV, saying that Israel's public clashes with Washington over the US demand for a settlement construction freeze was causing "strategic damage to Israel" and undermining the special relationship between the two countries.
