Histadrut, Treasury resume negotiations on contract workers

Negotiations between the Histadrut labor federation and the Finance Ministry were expected to resume Tuesday on the issue of the state's employment of contract workers.

Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz and Histadrut chairman Ofer Eini were set to meet at 10 a.m. in Tel Aviv, as part of court ordered negotiations aimed at narrowing gaps between the state's and the Histadrut's positions. The two parties are required to report their progress to the National Labor court at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Israel Radio reported.

Monday morning, much of the country ground to a halt after the court allowed a general strike to proceed, but limited it to four hours.
