A Jewish cemetery in eastern France was desecrated Wednesday, with some gravestones marked with swastikas and overturned.
Thedesecration in a Strasbourg cemetery came as Jews marked the 65thanniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz death camp, a symbol of theHolocaust, when the Nazis killed millions.
France'smain Jewish organization, CRIF, said that at least 18 tombstones at theCronenbourg cemetery were found marked with swastikas and 13of them were overturned.
The CRIF's Marc Knobel said the inscription "juden raus" (Jews out) was found on one tomb.
Franceis home to western Europe's largest Jewish and Muslim populations, andthere are occasional attacks on their schools, cemeteries or places ofworship.
