Knesset legal adviser: Nakba bill legal

The legal adviser of the Knesset, attorney Eyal Yinon, intends to argue before the Supreme Court that the so-called Nakba bill, which passed in March, is completely legal, a Knesset spokesman said Saturday night.
The bill enables the finance minister to withhold funds from municipalities and other government-funded bodies that actively work to deny Israel's existence as a Jewish-democratic state or that mark Yom Ha'atzmaut as a day of mourning.
The Court will deliberate on Wednesday on a petition filed by the NGOs Adallah and the Association of Civil Rights in Israel.
Yinon will argue that the bill does not deny freedom of expression.
