Lieberman responds to Abbas: Israel will not accept any preconditions

Lieberman responds to Ab

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Tuesday afternoon rejected Palestinian Authority's Mahmoud Abbas's statement that negotiations would only resume after Israel stops settlement construction and recognizes the borders of a future Palestinian state, saying that Jerusalem would not accept any preconditions for peace talks. "Israel will not accept any preconditions for resuming peace negotiations," the foreign minister said, adding that the government has agreed to hold direct contact without preconditions. "Anyone who sets such conditions is just trying to escape reality and avoid negotiations and a peaceful solution," Lieberman claimed.
