Local underworld figure murdered in Eilat

An Eilat man died on Sunday morning of wounds suffered when he was shot at his apartment following an argument with an unknown suspect.

Around midnight Saturday, an unknown assailant reportedly arrived at the victim’s apartment and an argument between the two began, police said. At some point shortly thereafter, shots were fired and paramedics who arrived at the scene found the victim in critical condition. They rushed him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

Police said the victim, whose name was not released for publication Sunday, is well-known to local law enforcement and that the case is being investigated as part of an ongoing feud between local criminals. A spokesman for the Eilat police department referred to the victim “as a very well-known figure in the Eilat criminal world.”
