Malaysian ex-PM to raise money for Gaza activists

Malaysia's former prime minister has announced he will help raise money for activists who intend to use boats to break the Israeli blockade around the Gaza Strip. Mahathir Mohamad said that he aims to raise €500,000 (more than $700,000), and that the money will be used to buy a small cargo vessel and passenger boat. He met Thursday with members of the Free Gaza activist group, which is planning another trip to the Palestinian territory when it acquires the vessels. Free Gaza has made five successful trips from Cyprus to Gaza since 2008.
