Man held hostage two months, assaulted, due to unpaid debt

Two men were arrested Sunday on suspicion of kidnapping and holding hostage a 38-year-old Bat Yam resident.
The two men reportedly kidnapped the Bat Yam resident and forced him into an apartment at a hidden location. There, the men held the victim hostage, demanding he pay them hundreds of thousands of shekels they claimed he owed them. According to the kidnapped man's claims, the two suspected men beat the victim and sent threatening messages to his family demanded that they help pay the off his debt.
On Sunday, following a complaint issued by the victim's family members, Ayalon Region detectives arrived at the apartment where the man was being held captive, and arrested the two suspects present on the scene. The two men are convicted on two counts of extortion, assault, and kidnapping and are expected Monday to appear at the Tel Aviv magistrate's court to discuss their case.
