MKs play ball with the blind in Knesset corridor

The Knesset marked “Blind Day,” with meetings and events, including a round of Goalball, a sport for blind people that is played in the paralympics. In Goalball, players must kick a beeping ball through a goal.
MKs Anastasia Michaeli (Yisrael Beytenu), Taleb a-Sanaa (UAL-Ta’al) and Uri Ariel (National Union) attempted to play the game while wearing dark glasses so they could not see, after Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin threw the opening ball. Labor MKs Avishai Braverman and Amir Peretz watched.
“This is an important activity that introduces us to men and women that are trying to integrate into society despite the difficulties,” Rivlin said. “The Knesset is sending a message to the public: Handicapped people should be a part of society. Everyone has a place.”
