Oren: Vet rebel groups before giving them lethal aid

Israel has asked the US not to provide the Syrian rebels lethal weapons before carefully screening them to ensure weapons don't fall into the hands of terrorist groups, Israeli ambassador to the US Michael Oren told CNN on Wednesday.
"If it were decided to provide lethal assistance, we ask those groups be carefully vetted," he said.
Israel fears the weapons will fall into the hands of the al-Nusra Front - an al-Qaida-linked group that now controls territories near the Israeli border - as well as Iranian-backed militias and Hezbollah, according to CNN.
Other neighboring countries, such as Jordan and Turkey, have also opposed to the Obama administration providing the rebels with lethal assistance.
