'Palestine Papers' say UK designed plan for Hamas crackdown

The latest Guardian release Tuesday from the cache of documents leaked from the Palestinian Authority's negotiations unit said that British intelligence agencies helped the PA draw up a plan to crackdown on and weaken Hamas in Gaza.
The Guardian's analysis of the documents suggests that "the bulk of the British plan has since been carried out by the West Bank-based PA security apparatus." The documents contained plans for "a security taskforce based on the UK's 'trusted' Palestinian Authority contacts, outside the control of 'traditional security chiefs,' with 'direct lines' to Israel intelligence."
