Police arrest man after gun fight breaks out in family feud

Police arrested one man in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Anata on Sunday morning after a gun fight broke out between two brothers during a family feud.

One of the brothers was wounded in the gunfight and was brought to a local hospital for treatment. The man also shot at the patrol of border police who entered the neighborhood and carried out the arrests, but there were no other injuries.

Anata is part of municipal Jerusalem but is located on the other side of the security barrier.

Jerusalem police very infrequently enter the neighborhood due to security concerns, and Palestinian security forces are not able to operate in the area because it is under Israeli sovereignty, which residents complain creates a vacuum of police enforcement and a situation where gunfights between feuding clans are common.
