Rambam nurse saves Indian tourist at Jordan border

A Rambam Medical Center nurse who was at the border passage between Israel and Jordan on the way to a weekend vacation last week saved the life of an Indian tourist who collapsed and suffered cardiac arrest.
Anat Herev, a Haifa nurse working in the hospital’s radiology department, had only a few months ago taken a lifesaving course there.
At the border post, she saw a group of tourists shouting that a member of the group, who was around 60 and a heart patient, had begun to turn blue. She performed heart massage for 45 minutes and used a defibrillator to give the heart muscle an electric shock.
She continued to give first aid until an ambulance arrived; the man is in stable condition at Emek Medical Center’s cardiac intensive care unit.
