Report shows east Jerusalem lacking nearly 1,000 classrooms

East Jerusalem is suffering from a lack of nearly 1,000 classrooms and more than 5,000 children of suitable age are not currently enrolled in school at all, according to a new report released by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel and Jerusalem NGO, Ir Amim.
The report added that more than 40,000 students pay for expensive private education.
Jerusalem municipal authorities responded that the lack of classrooms stems from a lack of appropriate buildings and temporary structures will be organized until new permanent school buildings are constructed.
They added that they are investing NIS 14 million for renting school buildings in east Jerusalem, where as they are investing only NIS 1.5 million for the same purpose in west Jerusalem.
