Seven policemen lightly wounded as haredi demonstrations resume

Seven policemen were lightly wounded in clashes with haredi protesters, some of them rock-throwers, as demonstrations in Jerusalem resumed on Thursday night. Several clashes between protesters and police were reported as the demonstrators converged on Road One en masse and attempted to block the road. Police attempted to dispel the demonstration with force, using water cannons, and several dozen protesters were arrested. Earlier, some 1,500 haredim held a prayer session in Shabbat Square. In Ramat Beit Shemesh, a 35-year-old woman in her fifth month of pregnancy was lightly injured. She was taken to Sha'are Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem for treatment. The circumstances were unclear.
