The Kupat Holim Meuhedet community clinic in Kiryat Arba had a surprise on Tuesday when a resident of a southern Hebron hills settlement who came for an examination suddenly gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Shortly before, she went to a hospital obstetrics department and was sent home after being told she was "not ready" to deliver.
Dr. Mark Zerah, one of the clinic obstetricians, examined her but did not see anything urgent. He suggested that she rest and remain under supervision at the clinic. Suddenly, labor pains began.
More clinic staffers arrived and delivered the baby. Both were taken to Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem's Ein Kerem.
