TAU and Forum for Social Policy Research hold Conference on challenges to welfare state

Social rifts, increases in inequality, high poverty rates, exclusion of groups based on gender, nationality, religion, age, and sexual orientation, are just some of the challenges facing the Israeli welfare state.
The fifth annual ESPAnet Israel, the Forum for Social Policy Research, Conference on "Inequality, Poverty and Exclusion: Challenges for the Welfare State" addressed these issues and more at the Bob Shapell School of Social Work at Tel Aviv University on Thursday.
The conference addressed the numerous challenges and problems facing the welfare state, as well as issues relating to practices, policies and the role of civil society organizations in shaping social policy.
The National Insurance Institute (NII) also presented its report on the nutritional security situation in Israel in 2012 detailing high risk groups and implications for the state.
