Despite seemingly intensifying attacks by Israel on Iran and the dramatic US bombing of three nuclear sites, defense sources told The Jerusalem Post on Monday night that Jerusalem intends to wrap up the war against Tehran "in the coming days."

This vector raises questions about the purpose of those targets Israel is currently hitting if it will not continue attacking long enough to achieve a new more concrete goal than the enormous goals it achieved on June 13 and the major American achievements on Sunday.

To date, Israel and the US have destroyed Iran's three major nuclear sites, with their only being a partial question mark on whether the Fordow nuclear site struck by Washington was completely or only partially destroyed.

Israel has also destroyed dozens of minor Iranian nuclear sites and killed around a dozen nuclear scientists.

Further, the IDF has destroyed somewhere close to two thirds of the Islamic Republic's ballistic missile launchers and large portions of its missile production ecosystem.

Moreover, the IDF on June 13 had already killed nine out of 13 primary Iranian military and intelligence chiefs.

In recent days, Israel shifted to targeting sources of the regime's internal; power, relating to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Basij militia.

However, a few more days of attacks would likely be insufficient, on its own, to bring down the regime, though some analysts think it may already have been enough to empower Iranian opposition officials to dethrone Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The earliest reports of Israel potentially wrapping up its operations against Iran early came from anonymous sources to The Wall Street Journal early Monday, but since then Israeli attacks only seemed to escalate, with the IDF dropping over 100 munitions on Iran on Monday.

IDF has targets to last as long as government requires

Asked about the possibility of ending the war soon on Monday night, IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Effie Defrin did not confirm, but also did not reject it out of hand, giving a mild answer about the IDF having enough targets to keep up attacks as long as the government requires,
