The 12-year-old boy who was videotaped being hit by David Be'eri's car while throwing a rock at his windshield in Silwan a little over a week ago was remanded to house arrest for two weeks, on condition of NIS 2000 bail set by Jerusalem police on Sunday. The minor will be allowed out of his house to travel to and from school, under the supervision of a parent.
The two minors shown in the video were summoned for investigation Sunday morning by the police in connection with the incident. The second boy was released with a warning not to repeat his actions again.

Also on Sunday, an indictment was filed in Jerusalem District Court against 21-year-old Mohammed Sharif of Silwan who was accused of throwing stones in the same incident. The state prosecutor added two counts of endangering human life and attempting to sabotage transportation. The prosecutor requested that the suspect's remand be extended through the end of the proceedings.
An Al-Jazeera video clip and AFP photos from the incident show four youths with rocks surrounding Be’eri’s car, and then two youths getting hit. One was lightly injured, and one was in moderate condition. Both were evacuated to Moqassed Hospital in the area.
Be’eri lives in the area and was on his way home with his son at the time of the incident, Ragones said. Be’eri was taken by the police for an investigation, and later released on bail.
The incident prompted a raucous emergency meeting of the Committee on the Rights of the Child a few days later to discuss the issue of Arab minors throwing rocks at cars in east Jerusalem.
