Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, MK Limor Son Har-Melech, together with dozens of activists from the Nachala movement, crossed the border fence into the Gaza Strip in violation of the law on Thursday evening.

Son Har-Melech dedicated the act as a Purim celebration, "With the aim of encouraging Jewish settlement in Gaza,"  the journalist Eli Zilberberg wrote in a post on his X/Twitter account.

According to Kan News, the activists are being pursued by the IDF.

The Otzma Yehudit MK has said in a statement published by the Nachala organization that "Gaza is ours forever," trying to justify her entrance into the territory.

In a post on her personal X account, Son Har-Melech said, "At the beginning of the month of Adar, (...) we merited, with thanks to the Lord, to enter the land of Gaza, together with the Nachala movement and dozens more families, women, men, and children."

She added that only by rebuilding settlements in Gaza would Israel ensure "victory and true security" for its people.

Group plants trees in Gaza after crossing border

On Instagram, the Nachala movement shared that the group that entered Gaza has planted trees.

"With tremendous excitement, we planted trees in our beloved Gaza region together with the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, MK Limor Son Har-Melech. We will continue to act until Gaza is Jewish!" they said.

The movement invited the public to join the initiative and take part in a "massive" march to Gaza, which they plan to hold during Passover week (hol hamoed).

"The time has come to settle Gaza!" they wrote.

In a statement released by the organization, the MK said that, with the action in Gaza, the group was declaring that "Jewish boys and girls will play in the streets of Gaza, thriving cities will rise in Gaza, and life will flourish."

According to Kan News, the group's act marked the second time within a month that right-wing activists have breached the border fence into the Gaza Strip in an attempt to demand the re-establishment of Jewish settlements in the territory.
