The laws requiring animals to be stunned before they are slaughtered strike "a fair balance between animal welfare" and religious freedom.

Buric explained the creation of the position saying "Freedom from discrimination, including on grounds of religion or belief," is at the core of the Council of Europe’s mission.

"Antisemitism is not just a danger to Jews and Jewish communities. It is a threat to every decent society and therefore to people of all backgrounds: Muslim, Christian and beyond."
