Timna Park will light up the desert in pink as part of the fight against breast cancer.
The race in Timna Valley included over 500 participants. Following the event, three new running tracks were launched in Timna Park
Timna holds great archaeological and biblical significance since it is the site of ancient copper mines believed to have been part of King Solomon’s empire.
Based on multi-disciplinary investigations, Erez Ben-Yosef concluded that the copper mines at Timna formed part of an extensive economic/industrial system operated by the Edomites.
The site contains remains of an ancient Egyptian copper mining industry, and is dotted with workshops, furnaces, tunnels, shrines and mining camps, dated to the 12th and 13th centuries BCE.
The finding marks the first time archaeologists have discovered female remains in the area.
