Aharonovitch meets with police detective Sharon Mizrahi

Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch met with police detective Sharon Mizrahi and his family Sunday, promising to continue supporting him in his request for presidential pardon.
Mizrahi was convicted earlier this month of opening fire and killing Mahmud Gnayem from Baka al-Gharbiya, after Gnayem failed to stop the stolen car he was driving in Pardess Hanna. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
In the meeting, Mizrahi's family expressed disappointment at the result of the trial and how the events were portrayed.
Aharonovitch explained that every court decision must be respected, regardless of the outcome and that the public interest should be taken into account.
