Israel will not release Tanzim-Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti or PFLP leader Ahmed Sadat in a prisoner exchange deal for captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom told BBC-Arabic on Monday. Shalom noted that any deal for the soldier's release would need to be presented to the Knesset and the cabinet, as well as the public, before it could be implemented.
