Hamas called Tuesday for the Libyan aid ship the Amalthea, carrying humanitarian aid for Gaza, to sail directly to the Strip and not to heed Israel's demands that the vessel bring its cargo to the Egyptian Port El-Arish, Israel Radio reported.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhuri said in an interview with the BBC that the Libyan ship is making its way to Gaza not only to give humanitarian aid, but to break the blockade and create a new naval lane to the Strip.
