Herzog: Ceasefire must be translated into political change

Opposition leader Isaac Herzog said Tuesday that he supported the ceasefire proposal accepted by the security cabinet that "will restore the quiet to the citizens of southern Israel," and that he hopes Hamas will respect the ceasefire.
He took the opportunity to say, however, that the government should focus its efforts on a long-term diplomatic solution to the problem.
"Netanyahu did not take advantage of the years of relative quiet to bring a political agreement; it is time we stop with this endless loop and understand that the only solution that will ensure the security of Israel is a long-term deal."
