Amid the ongoing upheaval in the Middle East, IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz convened the top military brass on Sunday for a two-day workshop during which he will finalize the military’s procurement plans for at least the next five years.

Called “Halamish,” the plan analyzes Israel’s current strategic standing in the Middle East particularly in light of the regime change in Egypt and the impact it will have on the IDF. The plan is not expected to include major changes due to Egypt but will include a new focus on Israel’s southern border.
