A leading Lebanese Shi'ite cleric on Sunday issued a fatwa, or a Muslim religious decree, forbidding the normalization of ties with the state of Israel. "The normalization of ties with the Zionist enemy in any form is prohibited by Sharia (Islamic law)," AFP quoted Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah as saying in a statement. "We confirm that the fatwa against normalization applies to every Muslim," the statement concluded.
