Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin said today that the bi-annual operating budget was not rushed, and only passed after intensive public debate. Rivlin said that the budget will allow the government to advance substantial and important reforms.

Rivlin made the statements in the wake of a Supreme Court order to explain within 60 days why it was not revoking the budget. The government was also asked to explain why it passed the budget amendment without the required 61 vote majority.
