Magnitude-5.9 quake strikes Southern California

LOS ANGELES — An earthquake struck Southern California Wednesday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The magnitude-5.9 quake was centered 28 miles (45 kilometers) south of Palm Springs, the US Geological Survey said. It struck at 4:53 p.m. (2353 GMT).
A Los Angeles County sheriff's spokeswoman said there have been no immediate reports of major problems.
