President Shimon Peres visited students Thursday morning at a Chabad affiliated school in Jerusalem's Ir Ganim neighborhood, Army Radio reported.

"I want to tell all of you that you can be very good and very smart people if you follow the ten commandments. Listen to the Torah and follow a path with good spirit and great faith," Peres told the students, according to the report.

Thursday was the first day of the school year for students across the country.
