A 44-year-old resident of Petah Tikva was arrested overnight Thursday on the suspicion of sexually abusing his two young daughters, ages 10 and seven, Army Radio reported.

The 10-year-old girl told her schoolteacher of her father's alleged behavior and the teacher informed social workers in the Welfare and Social Services Ministry of the child's statements.  The ministry opened an investigation into the family and the father was expected to have his remand set Thursday morning in Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court.
