The number of new immigrants that arrived in Israel this year rose by nearly one fifth, according to figures set to be by the Immigrant Absorption Ministry ahead of Rosh Hashana, Israel Radio reported Thursday. The total number of new immigrants this year surpassed 21,000, according to the report.
The majority of the olim arrived to Israel from the former Soviet Union, North America, Latin America and from Europe. The number of immigrants from Ethiopia, the report said, doubled to some 2,800.
