Saif al-Adel was chosen as the temporary leader of al-Qaida after Osama bin Laden's death, CNN reported on Tuesday.
Al-Adel, also known as Muhamad Ibrahim Makkawi, is a former Egyptian Special Forces office. He was reportedly chosen as a caretaker leader because the global jihad community complained of the lack of a formally-announced replacement for bin Laden.
