UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon convened the five permanent members of the Security Council (P5) for discussions on Syria on Thursday.

Possible diplomatic moves to end the crisis were discussed in the meeting and Ban briefed the P5 on "the latest developments relating to the chemical weapons investigation mission."

The deteriorating humanitarian situation in Syria and its neighboring countries was discussed as well as international efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis.
