Margol to evade jail with plea bargain

Tsanani will probably confess to committing some, but not all, charges; the prosecution will produce an amended indictment.

High-profile singer and television personality Margalit Tsanani, charged last summer with conspiring to extort her own music agent with the help of the mob, will likely escape a jail sentence by agreeing to a plea bargain, Channel 2 said Wednesday.
The prosecution refused to confirm the report.

Tsanani and crime boss Michael Hazan were charged at the end of August with conspiring to commit a crime and acting jointly to extort Tsanani’s talent manager, Assaf Atadegi.
Tsanani was released to house arrest after being charged. On Wednesday morning, Tsanani’s lawyers, Sassy Gez and Shahar Hatzroni, joined Hazan’s lawyer, Tamnir Sananas, for a meeting with state prosecutors to discuss the plea bargain, the report said.
It added that Tsanani will probably confess to committing some, but not all, of the charges, and that the prosecution will produce an amended indictment. “She will receive a six-month prison sentence, which will take the form of community service,” the report added.
If the plea bargain materializes, it would be a far cry from the picture presented by police last summer of a severe criminal affair.
In August, Judge Zvi Gurfinkel of the Tel Aviv District Court, who oversaw Tsanani’s remand hearing, said, “If the facts of the indictment are proven, then a picture emerges of a serious crime of extortion, and offense that presents serious harm to the public.”
