The Beersheba District Court sentenced a 26-year-old resident of Ashdod to a four-year jail term on Wednesday for breaking into a house and stealing NIS 50.
In the incident a year-and-a-half ago, the man entered the house in Ashdod with a partner to steal a safe that was supposed to contain money and jewelry worth several million shekels.
The two thieves were spotted by the homeowner, and after a brief struggle managed to escape with only NIS 50 and a pair of earrings.
One of the thieves was later identified by the owner, and the other was never apprehended.
