Assad: Israel holding up peace talks with Syria

Assad Israel holding up

Syrian President Bashar Assad on Wednesday night accused Israel of holding up peace talks between the two countries. "Israel is the main cause for the deadlock in peace. The Israelis want negotiations devoid of principles, that is to say endless talks," Assad said at a meeting in Damascus with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Syrian leader praised Turkey's role in mediating between the nations in the past and said its work had been "honest, fair and objective…we now want this mediation more than ever."
