Bank embezzler Eti Alon to be released after some 15 years in jail

After nearly 15 years in prisoner for a massive embezzlement scandal at Israel's now defunct Trade Bank, the institution's former deputy chief of investment, Eti Alon, was set to be released home Thursday before finishing her 17-year sentence.
An Israel Prison Service parole committee accepted an appeal by Alon to commute her sentence after the prosecution announced that it would not oppose her release from Neve Tirtza prison.
