Ben-Eliezer heads to Qatar for World Economic Forum

Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer was set to fly to Qatar on Sunday to head the Israeli delegation to the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Ben-Eliezer's visit is to be the first to Qatar by a senior Israeli economic minister since 2001. During his trip, he is expected to discuss with his counterparts from Gulf and Middle Eastern states the possibility of promoting Israeli technological innovations in their respective states.

"I hope to convince my colleagues ... to use Israel's strong financial standing and its capabilities, especially where hi-tech is concerned, to break barriers and thaw relations between Israel and its neighbors," he said.

This year's international conference is dedicated to encouraging financial growth in the aftermath of the global crisis.
