Compensation set for settlers harmed by freeze

Criteria have been set for the compensation of those harmed by the 10-month moratorium on new settlement construction, Cabinet Secretary Tzvi Hauser notified MKs Danny Danon (Likud) and MK Uri Ariel (National Union) on Thursday.
Homeowners will be able to receive rental compensation within 30 days of submitting a request to the Civil Administration. However, the compensation would be set based on the price range where the home is located and not on where the homeowners currently live.
Those with high-end apartments could take 90 days to receive reimbursements. Contractors and businessmen can be reimbursed for expenses and interest. The treasury has set aside NIS 24 million to help local councils and municipalities who have been financially harmed by the freeze, but the criteria for that assistance has yet to be set.
