Court case against Barak dropped

A group of Labor Party activists decided on Tuesday to cancel a petition against Labor chairman Ehud Barak at the Tel Aviv District Court.
The activists had intended to ask the court to require Barak to hold an election for party's candidates in May's World Zionist Organization election.
The activists were concerned that Barak would try to force the appointment of his ally, Agriculture Minister Shalom Simhon, as chairman of the Jewish National Fund.
The activists rescinded the petition after the judge made clear that they had no chance of winning the case.
