Druse protesters clash with police over gas pipeline

Three police officers were lightly injured and two people were arrested in the Druse village of Rehes Hacarmel following violent clashes over construction work to lay a natural gas pipeline in the village on Tuesday.
Police said around 50 residents attempted to disrupt work carried out by a tractor to lay the pipeline, adding that the protest was organized by the Druse Association for Land Protection. After being denied access to the construction zone, protesters headed to Route 70 and disrupted traffic. Police sealed off the road and cleared the protesters. One officer suffered a broken nose during the disturbances and two others were lightly injured.
Three protesters were arrested for attacking officers and disrupting traffic. Police reopened Route 70 after clearing the demonstration.
