Education minister calls for investment in student housing

New construction of student housing will be conducted according to the BOT (build/own/transfer) method, Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar said during a Likud meeting Monday.
BOT projects generally involve private investment, construction, and maintenance in a building project for a period of time after which infrastructure is transferred to the government.
Sa'ar said that higher educational institutions have ample supplies of land requiring only the right kind of financial assistance.
If dormitories are built for student housing, Sa'ar said, then a number of apartments currently occupied by university students will become available, making the BOT projects particularly relevant.
