Electricity demand outstrips production across Israel

Electricity use reached record heights due to the heat wave on Sunday. Public demand for electricity was over 11,110 megawatts by the mid-afternoon on Sunday. Israel Electric Corporation and other, private electricity produces were only able to produce 10,910 megawatts to meet increased demands on the electric system.
The IEC asked Israelis to tamp down their use on electric appliances during afternoon hours to reduce the strain on the nation's electrical grid during peak energy-use hours.
