Erdogan crushes hopes for J'lem-Ankara rapprochement

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyep Erdogan on Monday announced that he would refuse to attend climate conference to be held in Athens at the end of the month if Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will be among those in attendance.
Erdogan said in an interview with Greek Sky News that Israel "must pay" for its behavior in the boarding of the Mavi Marmara and apologize.
The Turkish leader's comments smashed any hopes of a potential rapprochement between the Israeli and Turkish leadership at the conference that both heads of state had been planning to attend. Just on Sunday,  Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou encouraged hopes that he would facilitate a meeting between the two leaders along the sidelines during the conference.
