Euro shares edge higher on Greece consensus hopes

LONDON - European shares drifted higher inchoppy trade on Friday as signs Greece would seek politicalconsensus on a new aid package and dump a referendum helped capsome fears of an imminent default, although the outcome remainsuncertain.

Banks, many of which have a significant exposure to theperipheral euro zone economies and have taken a hit on theirbalance sheets, were among the top gainers, while miners gotsome support from firmer metals prices that rose on hopes of animprovement in demand for raw materials.
