The family of Alan P. Gross, a Jewish-American USAID contractor who has been jailed in Cuba for over a year on charges of espionage, will host a special Passover seder on Monday night in a bid to raise public awareness to his incarceration.During the event, which will be held at his sister's home in the Washington DC area, family members will read from the haggadah with an emphasis on the holiday’s themes of freedom and liberty.Gross was arrested by the Cuban authorities in Havana last year. He was sent there by the US aid agency to assist the local Jewish community with setting up a communications center. Cuba said he had conspired to smuggle satellite phones into the communist country where strict laws are imposed on communications and failed to apply for the proper visa.
